Sorry about going off on the tangent.I think about this stuff too much sometimes. Sometimes I question the need for them I guess.we built a car without one on a 5 speed car.it ran 10.60 without one and then we installed Vortech mondo and it ran 10.60 with it? We verified that it was working, but it just didn't make any difference in spool-up on shifts at all, hence, my questioning their purpose other than MAYBE prolonging your turbo life. I understand that the spring has to be strong enough to stay closed under boost, but this thing seems like it would stay closed under 100 psi! :rofl:īelieve it or not, my first Cartech turbo kit didn't even come with a BOV, so I never ran one (this was back in 1998).my car ran 9.90s and the turbo lived and is still running today after many years of abuse. I'll try this one out and see if it works. Thanks for all the replies guys.I've been running turbos for many years now, but I never really gave it much thought as to the BOV.I've always run Tial BOVs in the past, but this time around the budget was very small to build a kit.
